School's Out for Summer

I am in the hopes that now that the hustle and bustle of the end of a really traumatic year is over, I can relax and perhaps post here a little more.

The official start of my summer was actually Friday, when I left in the morning to drive to Kansas City for my friend Sarah's wedding. Friday night was the rehearsal dinner, and of course, the wedding was on Saturday.

Pre-hair, post-makeup.
We got our makeup done at Bare Escentuals.

We wore adorable purple dresses

Cinnamon rolls the size of your head are a pretty good reason to visit Kansas City.
I visited my favorite breakfast place before returning home the next day

Yesterday was my first day of pure vacation, and I spent it tried and true in my pajamas for 99% of the time, despite needing to go to the doctor. So today I put myself into regular summer mode. Usually this means that I force myself to leave the house at least once a day, and I also make myself get dressed and put on a minimal amount of makeup. Today I went to the park down the street.

Life Lately...

I like how I started a blog with all good intentions of posting regularly... and then life got away from me and this sort of fell by the wayside. I have been terribly busy at work with end of school year dealings and prepping for a big change in my position and duties next year. So every night when I get home from work it's pretty much pajama time! But I have been doing other things, I promise.

Peppers Skirt

I cooked, I got dressed, I paired vibrant colors together and was fascinated by them...

Much to my kitty's chagrin, I got a new phone (fancy) and I'm now on instagram.

May and June are busy months for presents, with graduation and birthdays. I do all my wrapping and purchasing in large chunks.

I promise to be around more! Hopefully things will slow down soon, especially now that the year is coming to a close.

come on the risin' wind, we're goin' up around the bend...

I thought a new month would be a good time to restart my old blog, something I've been toying with for a little while. So if you are an old reader, welcome back, and if you are a new reader, welcome.

A new month is also a good time to refresh my hair color, which is exactly what I did yesterday afternoon. I hadn't realized how much it had faded until after it was done. Thankfully, it faded nicely and I was still happy with the color. So I think I will stay with this color for a while, I am enjoying the darker hue.

I have had this dress for a couple years now, and I love how flowy and comfortable it is. What I don't love is how often I step on it, how often my desk chair rolls over it, and how often I end up ripping it. I have had to sew the bottom ruffle of this dress at least the last 3 times I have worn this... once, in an emergency situation/large rip catastrophe that led me to taking off my dress and hiding in the sewing room here at work and borrowing sewing supplies from the generous teacher. But despite the issues, I'll probably keep this dress until it falls apart.
